Do you accept film from outside of the United States?

For sure. If you want your negatives shipped back, just know additional shipping charges will apply.

Do I have to do anything special with my souped rolls?

Yes! Souped film is not a regular film, it’s film that has been messed up (in a good way). So be sure to rinse film for 5-10 minutes after souping (or longer if it’s still soapy), and then dry film for at least 2 weeks in direct sunlight before sending it in. Wet film is extremely difficult to load onto reels and is more susceptible to fingerprints (You can also dry in your dryer for 5 cycles if you’re impatient.)

Will you soup my film for me?

Sure will! There’s a spot on the order form to indicate if you have any rolls you want me to soup, rinse, and dry for you. I will soup it in a mystery recipe and surprise you!

What film should I use for my film soup?

My favorite film to soup is cheap, consumer film such as Superia XTRA 400, Fuji 200, Kodak Gold 200, and Kodak Ultramax 400 because they tend to be more saturated and contrasty.

Do you only process and scan 35mm film?

Yup! Only 35mm and all film gets developed in C41 chemicals and scanned as color. This means if you send in black and white or slide film, it will be cross-processed.

Can I send in film that hasn’t been souped?

Yes! All 35mm is welcome! Just know the pricing is the same and all film will be developed with other souped film. Want your slide film cross-processed? Send it in! Want your film developed with other wonky rolls for fun, why not?

Will Film Lab 135 let me know when my film has arrived?

Yes! You will receive an email with an invoice letting you know your film has safely arrived in Minneapolis.

Note that Film Lab 135 is closed on weekends and holidays.

I’m local, can I drop my film off and pick it up when it’s done instead of having it shipped?

Sure! Simply email to coordinate with Amy before doing this. Your negatives will still be cut and sleeved, so a nominal fee of $2 per order will be applied for this.

Will you send my negatives back?

Just select on your order form if you’d like them back and Film Lab 135 will cut, sleeve, and ship them for a flat rate of $9 (in the US). Film Lab 135 will also hold your film for up to 6 months and send you all your film up to that point at once. If you choose for your film to be mailed back with upcoming orders, the $9 shipping charge will occur at the time of the mailing.

How will I be able to download my files?

At this time Film Lab 135 is using a ShootProof gallery site for downloads. When your files are ready, you will receive an email with a link and password to download the files. The gallery will be active for 1 week upon sending the notice. If the client needs the gallery reactivated for any given order, a $15 fee will be charged. Be sure to check your SPAM folder if you’re unsure why you haven’t received the email!
